Action Plan and FAQ

August 5, 2024

Dear Caregivers,

I hope that the summer months have been enjoyable and that you found time to spend with friends and loved ones. I’m looking forward to launching the 2024-2025 school year, which begins for students on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Over the next two weeks, you will receive key communications from school principals and the Superintendent’s Office, which will provide you with important information.

For this communication, I want to provide you with an update on the actions the District is implementing in response to the incidents at Margaret A. Neary School this spring. Additionally, I want to share a frequently asked questions (FAQ) document created to respond to the questions asked throughout the spring. As Superintendent, I strive to uphold and live by the District’s core values of equity, inclusivity, empathy, integrity, respect, and perseverance. I am committed to and believe in the goals and actions outlined in the Action Plan, and I am confident that they will help the District learn and grow from the incidents.

FAQ

I will also incorporate the goals in the Action Plan into the District’s Strategic Plan, Vision 2026: Educate, Inspire, Challenge, and my 2024-2025 goals. I will present the 2024-2025 Action Plan and my goals to the Northborough, Southborough, Northborough-Southborough Regional, and Superintendency Union #3 School Committees at the Combined School Committee meeting on September 18, 2024.

Throughout the year, I will update the Southborough School Committee and community on progress toward the goals. I’m available if you have any questions about the Action Plan or if you have a question you would like included in the FAQ. I hope the next few weeks are enjoyable as you prepare for the school year.

Respectfully,

Gregory L. Martineau
Superintendent of Schools
